Best Practices

We've worked hard to create a virtual training program that's engaging, accessible, and beneficial. To get the most out of your player's virtual sessions, we recommend these tips for success:
  • Set up your playing area where you can receive a strong wifi signal. Do a trial run before your program starts. Try Zooming with a friend or grandparent from your chosen training spot. Can you see and hear each other easily?

  • Give yourself time to get set up before the session starts, so you can be ready to start when it's time to play.
  • Clear an area of at least 5x7 to allow room for movement.
  • Set your screen at eye level, so that you can easily see your trainer. Try a TV console, books on a coffee table, stacking a pile of couch cushions... whatever works in your space.
  • Angle your camera down towards your feet. We love to see your smiles, but we love your footwork even more.
  • Make sure you can hear your trainer -- and they can hear you. Adjust volume, close windows or move to a quieter area as necessary.
  • Playing outdoors feels wonderful, but make sure your reception, sound and microphone are able to work properly. If you're having trouble, move to an indoor location. You can always head back outside afterward to practice what you've learned!
